Click here for a pdf of my Grandfather’s memoir.

My Grandfather, Martin T.C. Jenter, was a pioneer in the field of exhibition and 3-dimensional design for trade shows, world fairs, governments and museums. An accomplished illustrator, painter and designer, he emigrated from Germany in 1911. This memoir was written in 1944 for his three sons, who were all away fighting in WW II, as a family history of his life and business accomplishments.

He was appointed U,S. Director of Exhibits for Ibero-American Exposition in Seville, Spain, in 1928. In 1937, he was U.S. Director of Commercial Displays for the Paris Exposition. He successfully sued former business partners for attempting to freeze him from his company, by accusing him of being sympathetic to Germany because of his German roots.

He had tragically lost his first wife and fourth son in the aftermath of the Spanish pandemic in 1921. I am in the process of converting his hand-written memoir into a typeset e-book, adding many links to some of the events and people he encountered in his rich and interesting life.
